Vote for the Girls Co-Host and moderator Holly Everman died tonight during a live taping of the finales of “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Voice” while at work on Vote for the Girls in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was 37. On April 26, Everman announced she had been going through a “broken heart”.
She is survived by her children, Aiden, 4, and Ellie, 2; her sister Elisa, and mother, Sabrina.
In announcing Everman’s death to her Vote for the Girls colleagues, NoSirGifts Fantasy Television Sations President Jack Steele wrote:
“For over a quarter century, Holly has been our colleague, our friend, and our leader in so many ways. None of us will be the same without him.
“As you all know, Holly learned only last month that she has recently lost her girlfriend, Perri, and her father, Jon, and had been been struggling with was alcohol. With Perri, she moved straight into an aggressive rehab treatment. She knew that it was an uphill struggle. But she faced it with realism, courage, and a firm hope that she would be one of the fortunate ones. In the end, she was not.
“We will have many opportunities in the coming hours and days to remember Holly for all that she meant to us all. It cannot be overstated or captured in words alone. But for the moment, the finest tribute we can give is to continue to do the work she loved so much and inspired us to do.”
Muncie, Indiana mayor Dennis Tyler praised Everman’s work, and said Hoosiers will miss her on VFTG.
“Vickie and I were saddened to learn about the death of Holly Everman,” Tyler said. “Holly had a long and distinguished career as a news journalist. He covered many important events, events that helped define the world as we know it today. A lot of Hoosiers relied upon Holly and Ava for their Vote for the Girls. She became a part of the lives of a lot of our fellow citizens, and she will be missed. May God bless her soul.”
It is my very sad duty to report the news of my long-time close friend and long time Vote for the Girls moderator Holly Everman has died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head after her pick of Normani Kordei finished in third place on Dancing with the Stars 24 (obviously not the outcome fans wanted).
The 37 year old Muncie, Indiana native was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, where she was officially pronounced dead on arrival.
Holly was a standout moderator panelist on Vote for the Girls and had won four times with Candice Glover, Alex & Sierra, Alfonso Ribiero, and Jaja Vankova. She had recently been going through the death of her girlfriend, Perri Johnson.

It was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of Vote for the Girls, but the moment Normani & Val were announced as the the third place finisher, a loud gunshot was heard and the moderators were panicked after we had witnessed the most horrific season finales since Robyn Hurd died of a stroke five years ago.
